Summary
The Dirksland test site served as a key demonstration location for Kitepower’s Airborne Wind Energy System. Located on agricultural land, the site allowed us to validate our mobile kite-based technology under real-world operating conditions. A setting where farm works and energy production could co-exist, again in Goeroe-Overflakkee after a successful finished project in the neighbouring village Mellisant.
The Dirksland project played an important role in advancing scalable and flexible renewable energy solutions. It enables ongoing performance optimization, operational validation, and stakeholder engagement while demonstrating how airborne wind energy can complement conventional wind power. With its low material use, minimal visual impact, and mobility, the system offers a practical and sustainable alternative for clean energy generation in diverse environments.
