From Prototype to Reliable Energy System

Summary

Kitepower has carried out extensive testing and demonstration activities in the Netherlands to validate the performance, safety, and applicability of its Airborne Wind Energy technology. One of the first test locations was on the former naval air base in Valkenburg. Kitepower has conducted regular system tests at Valkenburg, helping advance both technology validation and public understanding of airborne wind energy.  Because the former airfield has an Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ), AWES flight tests can be carried out without special permits under controlled management, which was valuable for iterative testing and safety evaluation.
