Kitepower aims to contribute to a more sustainable world by flying kites to generate electricity. Founded as a spin-out of Delft University of Technology, we are developing our first commercial system to power farms, construction sites and (island)communities with renewable airborne wind energy.

We are looking for an intern to join our software team in Delft. You will have a challenging (graduation) internship in renewable energy to apply your academic knowledge and gain valuable working experience. You will contribute to our simulation, flight dynamics and/or control expertise by taking on a project that will directly impact the main product of the company.

😃 We offer:

  • Valuable working experience in a leading renewable energy start-up
  • Working in close cooperation with senior and junior team members
  • Taking responsibility and ownership of your projects within a bigger development

    • Validation and/or identification of the models and their key parameters
    • Improvement of the software standards and interaction with our full simulation environment
    • Fine-tuning the model’s assumptions and implementation to better represent our kite
  • Optimisation aspects of our kite’s retraction phase to maximise power generation
  • Optimisation of aspects of the flight trajectory to maximise power generation
  • Optimisation of aspects of our control strategy to follow the scheduled trajectory to maximise the kite’s power generation

Job Profile

  • Studies in aerospace, control, simulation and/or system identification engineering – preferably Msc level
  • Programming experience, preferably in Python
  • Fluent written/spoken English
  • Understanding of physical modelling of dynamic systems
  • Understanding of one of:
    • Verification, validation and identification strategies of dynamic models
    • Control of dynamic systems, preferably moving vehicles
