Kitepower has been granted a permit by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) to conduct 'Beyond Visual Line of Sight' (BVLOS) flights. This marks a significant milestone for Kitepower in the development and commercialisation of its technology.
Between September and October 2021, Kitepower is going to be deployed in the Dutch Defence's training area near Vader Piet on the island of Aruba, with the goal to test the system in an operational environment as part of the military exercise Caribbean Engineer 2021.
On May 18th, a Kitepower demonstration event has been held at the Kitepower pilot site in Melissant, Goeree-overflakkee. Parties who showed interest in a Kitepower pilot installation had been invited to see the operation of the Kitepower Falcon 100kW system installed within Kaasboerderij Mulder's grassland.
On January 26th 2021, a Kitepower demonstration event has been arranged in Melissant, Goeree-Overflakkee, in order to showcase the system's operation to local authorities and other interested parties.
After winning the Dutch Ministry of Defence's Innovation Competition in 2018, Kitepower has successfully performed a training session together with the military, where an external crew has been instructed to operate Kitepower's AWES for the very first time.
